Home And Student Windows 7 Upgrade?

I purchased a new dell a few weeks ago and it comes with a free windows 7 premium upgrade when it comes out. I have microsoft home and student on my comp already but i lost the product key and cant find it, so when I upgrade to windows 7 will it erase my hd and force me to buy home and student again?

If you’ve recently bought a PC with a copy of Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate, you’ll have been given a Microsoft Offer Form Code. You need to go and register for your Windows 7 upgrade.
For anybody else, read on. Despite the usual criticism of Microsoft’s multiple-version Windows releases, it actually isn’t that complicated.
You can upgrade from a particular version of Windows Vista to the equivalent version of Windows 7, while an Ultimate Edition of Windows 7 can be installed over any version of Vista.
Hope it helps you. For more information http://windows7. iyogi. net

You’ll have the better version Windows 7 Premium Edition. For Vista users, you will have to option to upgrade to windows 7 rather than performing a clean install. This means your files will not be removed, simply only your OS will be upgraded. There’s also the option of Dual-Boot operating systems which you can learn more about here http://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Multi_boot
